“It is with a deep and terrible sadness that I must announce the death of my beloved brother, Leon,” writes Enya in a public statement. “Not only was he my brother, but he was my dearest and closest friend. My love for him will remain forever in my heart.”
Leon Brennan died peacefully at his home in Shankill, Dublin, surrounded by his family on Friday 17 December. He is survied by his wife Ann; his children, Leon and Anna; his mother Maire Ni Bhraonain; and his siblings, Maire, Deirdre, Eithne (Enya), Olive, Bridin, Ciaran, Pol and Bartley as well as his extended family and friends. He was burried on 21 December in Meheragallon.
Leon worked behind the scenes with Donegal band Clannad for 35 years as the band’s tour and production manager. Enya gifted her brother with a replica of his wedding band in the weeks before he died.
“I would ask for privacy at this time, not only for me, but for all my family,” writes Enya on Twitter.

Enya, you are a beautiful soul and I love your music. I am comming to Ireland in a week for 9 days with my brother to search our family roots and enjoy the countryside of our forefathers… hopefully finding some long lost relatives. It would be an honor to meet you, but I realize you like your olitude… as do I.
