“Environments” Is Now an App

2206

Irv Teibel’s “Environments” is now available as an app. It is a historic catalog of long form field recordings, created in the 1960s and ’70s on analog tape. It began as an unprecedented series of vinyl records, garnering widespread acclaim and selling millions of units. For anyone who is into the history of New Age music, “Environments” is a must-have.

Irv Teibel swore that listening to his nature recordings could “induce sleep and promote faster reading,” and that their “effects on the esthetics [sic] of lovemaking are said to be truly remarkable!” He called that first one “The Psychologically Ultimate Seashore.”

The new app is a collaboration between Syntonic Research, Inc.—Teibel’s original company —and the Chicago-based archival record label Numero Group.
