LAST PASSING OF SUMMER features new works written over the past few years. David’s guitar is front and centre, and there are inspired contributions from cellist Eugene Friesen, violinist Charlie Bisharat, percussionist Jeff Haynes, and woodwinds from Jill Haley. Multi-instrumentalist Tom Eaton performs on piano, bass, keyboards, cymbals and electric guitar. Voice contributions are from Noah Wilding.

Of special note, Will plays lead acoustic guitar, highlighted on the track SORROWS OF THE MOON which takes its title from the poem by Charles Baudelaire (French poet and writer, 1821-1867). Will is heard on other tracks, but his guitar work in SORROWS makes David’s haunting composition a truly inspired musical dialogue.

LAST PASSING OF SUMMER consists of soles, duets, trias and ensemble pieces, especially the track TO THE SUN, which gently unfolds from David’s guitar, to the accompanying soloists, and then on to an ensemble of cello, voice, percussion, English horn and piano.

The title track LAST PASSING OF SUMMER, a guitar solo, attempts to capture the feeling of the brief sensation of Summer, after Fall’s frost and colours have settled in, and its wistful promise of a return.

David continues to write in the musical vein of his classical training, lute studies, and in the human spirit.
