Michael Carmine Di Bianco – Reflexion

Reflexion is the third studio album from New York City-based contemporary pianist and composer, Michael Carmine Di Bianco. The album is a five track listening experience based on the five spiritual elements of nature: Water, Earth, Space, Fire, and Air.

“I am inspired by the elements of nature, and how they affect the human spirit. The idea of musicalizing the five elements just felt instinctual. In my personal life, I’ve always found the elements to be the keys to unlocking inner harmony, emotional well-being, and a deeper connection to the universe,” says Michael.

Michael’s passion for dramatic musical genres has allowed him to create a gorgeously nostalgic album. His style of playing is infused with classical, pop and jazz, layered with sentimentality and soulfulness. The album features an eclectic mix of Michael’s own compositions, an iconic piece by Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, and two chart topping ballads originally recorded by Madonna.

“I am a very expressionistic musician. When I’m composing a new piece, and a chord or a phrase I’m playing speaks to my heart, whether it’s a light or dark emotion, I know I’m exposing a truth, and I am moving in the right direction. I always aspire to create a euphoric musical atmosphere. I want my music to provide listeners with escapism, harmony and peace.”

When creating an arrangement for an already existing composition, Michael listens intently to the original recording of the song. He focuses on what every instrument is playing and interprets that on the piano. While keeping the structure and integrity of these iconic compositions intact, Michael creates fierce instrumental versions that let the audience connect both musically and emotionally.
