Pam Asberry – 24 Impromptus

337

The tenth studio album from acclaimed pianist Pam Asberry, 24 Impromptus, is a departure from her previous works. Her intimate and personal style of playing and the gentleness of her melodies remain in place, but 24 Impromptus packs maximum feeling into a minimum of notes.

In the artist’s own words, “These 24 Impromptus follow in the classical music tradition of writing a set of pieces in all the major and minor keys of the chromatic scale. Each evokes a unique feeling or emotion that can be summed up in a one-word affirmation… As you listen to the music, I hope these affirmations will resonate with your spirit and inspire you to transcend the past and live more fully and authentically in the present.”

Pam Asberry

24 Impromptus cuts a wide swath of mood, melody, and tempo, united by Asberry’s fluid melodies and technical artistry. Journey kicks the musical journey off in a friendly, subtly festive mood. Later, Bliss retains an uptempo pace but revolves around a more triumphant mood. Yielding dials the speed down and sets the mood to subdued and reflective. Compassion one of the longer tracks, unfolds as a pensive yet affirming musical tale.

Listening to this brilliant album all in one sitting is highly recommended to reap its many pleasures as it washes over you with warmth and sincerity.

24 Impromptus is recorded, mixed, and mastered by Joe Bongiorno of PianoHaven Studios, Sedona, Arizona.
