Kaveh was born in 1976 in Shiraz; the Persian city of poetry & music, studying keyboard and piano at an early age. After years of classical piano as a teenager and winning numbers of piano competitions, he revealed his love and passion for creating by composing orchestral music with grandiose ambitions. After immigrating to California at age 23, he devoted much of his time to studying composition, orchestration & film music at different institutions including Cal-state Long Beach.

Karandish has benefited from many great musicians such as Shardad Rohani, Perry LaMarca, Daniel Luzko, (the late) Babak Bayat and many others both in Iran and the USA, and has collaborated with many musicians from around the world. He arranged an original composition “Eternity” for the Irvine Valley College wind symphony in 2001. He also collaborated with Orchestra Surreal for a concert featuring his original music in 2003 in Long Beach, California. Both performances were essential experiences to propel him towards future endeavors.

Kaveh believes in the Persian proverb that reads: “what stems from the heart will affect the heart of the audience.” Kaveh celebrates passion and freedom through his music. Over time his compositions have evolved into a unique blend of ethnic and western vibes that manifests as a fresh sound of the Persian contemporary music. Kaveh also enjoys odd rhythms and the blending of different music cultures. In one of his signature works titled “Shadow Dance”, one can hear a marriage of Persian 4-Mezrab piano with the Mediterranean 7/8 rhythm, the Indian color of Sitar, and Turkish Udo, along with the western sounds of electronic guitar and orchestra. This work has been widely appreciated by world music enthusiasts. In his previous album “Rain”, the idea was to compose different styles which ranged from New Age, Jazz & Bossanova to hints of Flamenco and Persian classical music.

His most recent album “Silent Whispers” (Released Oct 2017) is a collaborative effort with a number of world-class musicians, and Grammy-nominated producer and arranger, Elliot Lanam. This album once again manifests Kaveh’s powerful sonic dreams, surpassing boundaries and cultures by blending different elements of musical styles with his devotion to music from his homeland, and at the same time contains some of his most intimate and emotionally filled piano-based works.

Karandish has enjoyed scoring numbers of short films along with parts of the soundtracks for the documentary ” Iran, the forgotten glory”, a work by his late beloved brother Makan Karandish.

Besides musical ambitions, Kaveh holds an MD degree and has been a practicing internal medicine and cosmetic physician since 2009. He now resides and practices music and medicine in Arizona. He is grateful for the ultimate unconditional love, support, and encouragement he has received from his family throughout the years.
