Deva Premal and Miten’s new album Mantras for Life is a collection of – yes, you guessed right – mantras. The selection is great, and they are performed by some of the most inspiring meditation gurus around. If you are looking for mantras, look no further.
Deva Premal and Miten’s success is easy to explain. Not only are they some of the best artists we have – they also understand technology and the needs of their audience; Recently over 87,000 people from 200 countries to participate in The Spirit of Mantra – a 21-Day Mantra Meditation Journey. Also, Mantras for Life hit #1 on both the Amazon World Music and New Age charts when it was first released, as well as #2 on Billboard’s New Age chart.
Magical Mantras
Mantras for Life is in many ways not only an album – but a highly effective meditation tool. It might sound like a cliché, but this an album you have to listen to with your soul. A mantras’ power is not in its meaning but its expression. This album is a follow-up to last year’s Mantra Love.
Deva Premal’s voice, backed by Miten, is as always both inspired and calming. The mantras are chanted in the traditional manner of 108 times, which is an ancient sound formula. The album features Manose on bansuri and Kamal Engels on cello. The songs are long (4 – 7 minutes), with exception of a few short bonus mantras in the end. For deep meditation this might be a bit short, but feel free to repeat the mantras yourself. Again: this is just as much a tool as it is an album.
Personally I like the mantras both melody and rhythm. My favorite is no.7, Kala Mantra (Perfect Timing). Both the drums, flute and string instruments sound divine.
Mantras for Life by Deva Premal and Miten is close to a perfect collection of mantras. Push play and see what magic they can do for you.
