On 3 February 2017, Vangelis will release a 13-disc box set called “Delectus”. It follows the appearance in September of the Greek master musician’s current studio album “Rosetta”, and will feature a wide selection of material from his early discography — as well as four never-before-released tracks.

The box will include all of Vangelis’ albums originally released on the Vertigo and Polydor labels, which have been remastered under his new deal with Universal, under the supervision of the artist himself. “I always welcome remastering my old work for two basic reasons,” says Vangelis. “Firstly, I get the opportunity to bring the sounds to today’s standards, secondly, it gives me the chance to go through the experiences and memories of the time.”

“Delectus” will be presented in a lavish box, with the discs  housed in two die-cut, gatefold disc holders within a rigid 242mm square slipcase. The set is augmented by a 64-page book with an essay and many rare photographs documenting this period of Vangelis’ prolific career.

The albums in the collection are Earth, L’Apocalypse Des Animaux, China, See You Later, Antarctica, Mask, Opera Sauvage, Chariots of Fire, Soil Festivities and Invisible Connections, as well as his collaborations with Jon Anderson, Short Stories, The Friends of Mister Cairo and Private Collection. The remastered originals will now additionally feature rare b-sides as well as four previously unreleased tracks.

The box set may be ordered here.
